Cateye HL-EL530 Bicycle Headlight

The HL-EL530 is the latest headlight from Cateye. Itis an improved version of the HL-EL500. The new 530 has 1/3 more candlepower at Cateye's rating than the EL500. It also is rated for 90 hours use on 4 AA batteries. The EL500 was rated for 30 hours on 4 AA batteries.
I have used this light and it is absolutely awesome. 5 to 10 years ago we would only get 150 candle power and 6 hoursout of the Halogen lights. The new LED lighting technology has gepletely changed riding bikes at night.

Hub Bearing How To Repair/Install, Mazda Miata

We found these instructions online and posted them here hoping they will help. We are not the author of these instructions and we do not claim that these will be exact to your vehicle, however they should give you a very good idea if you think you want to tackle this job yourself or not.
Description: The front hub/bearing assembly on an NA model Miata is a one-piece unit consisting of the hub/lugs with the bearings pre-installed and greased. The assembly is typically considered non-serviceable, and you replace the unit when the bearings fail. Symptoms: In my case, my 1990 Miata developed a thunk-thunk-thunk type sound on the front right wheel while driving. It sounded very similar to driving over a concrete highway with the relief cuts in the road - just a repetitive thunking sound. The sound got louder when making left hand turns, and pretty much disappeared when making right hand turns. Based on forum searches, I determined it must be a failing bearing causing the issue. I had about 118,000 miles on the odometer when I did this service. Parts: New Hub/Bearing Assembly - Purchase for $69.99 from:AutoPartsDirectToYou.ge on okay. Get two if you're doing both sides and shop around - different parts stores had wildly different prices. New Hub Nut - About $5 from the dealer - Get two if you're doing both sides. I opted to reuse mine, but a new one is suggested since the nut is deformed with a punch into a keyway on the spindle. Repeated use of a used nut could over-fatigue the fastener. Wheel Bearing Grease (for spindle) High-Temp Grease (for brake parts) Anti-Seize gepound (for lug nuts) ** If you need new brake pads, now is a great time to do this service as well since you will have everything apart to do the brake work. Tools: Car Jack/Lug Wrench and Jack Stands 14mm Socket (for lower caliper bolt and caliper bracket bolts) 17mm Socket (for upper caliper bolt) Length of wire (for wiring the caliper out of the way) Hammer (for knocking out hub nut cover and hitting the punch/chisel). Slotted screw driver (for hub nut cover) Punch/Chisel (for hub nut tab) 29mm Socket (for hub nut) Cheater-bar or pipe (to help remove highly-torqued hub nut) Torque Wrench that can measure 120 ft-lbs to 150 ft-lbs C-Clamp or Channel Pliers (something to use to gepress the disc brake piston)
Removal and installation procedure for Mazda miata front wheel hub bearing assembly:
Removal and Installation:First, loosen the lug nuts of the front wheel while it is still on the ground so you don't have to fight the spinning wheel while it is jacked up. Next, jack up the side of the car you will be replacing the hub on. Even though you won't be under the vehicle, put the car on a jackstand for stability since you could be shaking the car a bit working with the tight bolts in later steps.
Remove the lug nuts and wheel, and then remove the upper and lower slider bolts for the caliper. The lower bolt is 14mm and the upper bolt is 17mm. The red arrows point to where the caliper bolts were (the caliper and caliper bolts have already been removed in this photo,2 photos down).
Using a piece of wire, hang the caliper out of the way with it - do not let the caliper hang by the brake line. The lower control arm makes a nice place to set the caliper, but chances are you'll knock it off, so make sure you wire it to the coil or other suspension geponent so no stress is placed on the brake hose.

Remove the spring clips that hold the pads away from the caliper, and remove the brake pads.
Remove the two bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the spindle assembly. Both of these are 14mm bolts, and the yellow arrows point to them. Once the caliper bracket is off, you will be able to remove the disc rotor (up until now it has been loosely attached to the hub assembly since the lug nuts hold it tight).

Next, use a slotted screwdriver and hammer to pry the cover that is over the hub nut. This can be in there tight, so it may take a bit of persuasion to get out.

Using a metal punch or chisel, knock out the indentation on the hub nut that is sticking into the spindle keyway.

Slip a pipe over the handle of your socket to get the leverage needed to easily remove the hub nut (or use some equivalent method). The hub nut needs a 29mm socket to remove it. I used a four-foot pipe and my five year old could have removed the nut with that much leverage
Remove the old hub/bearing assembly from the spindle. Wipe off all old grease and any debris from the spindle, and apply some new bearing grease to its surface.
Here's a picture of the shiny new hub and bearing assembly.

Place the new hub part onto the spindle, and screw down the new hub nut. Using a torque wrench, torque the hub nut at 125 ft-lbs to 150 ft-lbs. It is pretty important to get this nut torqued down - if it is too loose pre-mature bearing failure can occur. Plus, this nut is the main mechanism for holding the wheel on the car. Since I reused my hub nut, the part that was indented lined back up with the keyway on the spindle. For me, this was a crosscheck that I was doing things right.

Using your punch or chisel, place a dent in the hub nut rim so it protrudes into the spindle keyway. This will prevent the nut from loosening on the spindle. Also, replace the hub nut cover removed earlier

Reassembly is basically the reverse of what we've done so far. So, place the disc rotor back on the hub and bolt the caliper bracket back onto the suspension. The caliper bracket bolts are torqued at 36 ft-lbs to 51 ft-lbs. Grease the 'ears' on the brake pads with high-temperature grease meant for brake parts, and place those back in the guides in the caliper bracket. Also, don't forget to put the pad springs back on the pads to hold them away from the rotor.

** If you need new brake pads, now is a great time to do this service.
Purchase Premium standard brake pads for $29.99 or Ceramic brake pads for $49.99 from:AutoPartsDirectToYou.ge on okay
Next we'll have to put the caliper back over the pads. It is a bit easier if you gepress the caliper piston. So first open the brake fluid reservoir under the hood...

...Now use some channel pliers or a c-clamp to push the piston back into its housing. Be careful not to damage the rubber seal around the piston. You can even use the specific piston-tool for this if you're feeling fancy. Once this is done, place the caliper over the pads, and put the cap back on the brake fluid reservoir under the hood - you want the fluid exposed to moisture in the air the lease amount of time possible.

Now clean off the caliper slider bolts of any old grease/debris and re-apply more high-temp brake grease. Tighten those bolts back into their respective slots. The caliper bolts are torqued at 58 ft-lbs to 65 ft-lbs.
Place the wheel back on the car and tighten the lug nuts in a cross pattern at 66 ft-lbs to 86 ft-lbs.

U.S. Coin Identification Photo Guide - Small Cents

United States Small Cents
(1856 - Date)
The act of February 21, 1957, provided for the coinage of the new copper-nickel small cent. It also called for Spanish and Mexican coins and old copper cents and half cents in circulation to be brought in and exchanged for U.S. silver coins and the new cents.

Flying Eagle (1856 - 1858)
The Flying eagle cent was only produced for 3 years, with the 1956 date being the rarest having a mintage of only 2000 pieces. Made in copper-nickel and all produced at the Philadelphia Mint.

Indian Head (1958 - 1909)
The Indian Head cent is actually a representation of Liberty wearing an Indian headdress, not an actual Indian. The 1859 dated cent has anlaurel wreath reverse with out a shield. Beginning in 1860 the reverse was revised with a oak wreath and a shield at the top center. Indian head cents from 1859 - 1864 were made with Copper-Nickel. 1864 - 1909 the cents were made in Bronze. All made at the Philadelphia Mint except the 1908S and 1909S at San Francisco.

Lincoln Head - Wheat Reverse (1909 - 1958)
Victor D. Brenner designed this cent, which was issued to gememorate the 100th anniversary of Lincoln's Birth. The designer's initials (V.D.B.) appear on the reverse of a limited quanity of cents dated1909. The initials were restored, in 1918, to the obverse side on Lincoln's shoulder. Made in Bronze from 1909 to 1958, except 1943 which were made of Steel.

Lincoln Wheat - Steel Variety (1943 only)
Owing to a shortage of copper during WWII, the Treasury Department resorted to the use of zinc-coated steel for cents. All varieties of the Lincoln Wheat reverse cent were produced in Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco.

Lincoln Head - Memorial Reverse (1959 - Date)
Frank Gasparro designed the Lincoln Memorial reverse, which was introduced in 1959 on the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's Death. Theobverse remained unchanged. Made of mostly Copper from 1959 - 1982. And made in Copper-Plated Zinc from 1982 - present.
Currently there is a bill in congress to change the Cent's design in 2009, the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln cent.

Little White Lies You May Need To Tell To Sell on s

I've been at this on a part time basis for about a year now and have learned a few things that may be helpful to new sellers.
I am in the business of selling used clothing.
WHITE LIES
When I first started out people would ask where I got my inventory and I would tell them. People at some of the invetory sources would ask what I was doing with all the items I was purchasing, I told a few of them. Yes... I know... not smart. But you have to understand something about me.
I spent 5 years of my life studying to begee a catholic nun, lying, even white lies are not something I've ever been gefortable with!
However little white lies are now part of my business. See, I have expanded my business and therefore have expanded my sources for inventory. I get asked ALL the time what I do with all that STUFF.
The story I have gee up with is that I buy the clothes and donate them to various projects. The way to rectify this "lie" is that I do infact donate items that I am unable to sell on okay.
SELLING YOUR ITEMS
Enough about the LIES. One place you may never lie is in describing your item! Be as accurate as you possibly can. It is best to give a full inspection of your item (especially true of used clothing). You will then want to measure your items (especially jeans and pants). This will save you a lot of time that you would spend in answering questions from your prospective buyers.
Most okay buyers are a joy to deal with. Out of over 1,000 transactions I've only had one or two bad eggs. You will want to add some terms and conditions and clear information about your shipping in each and every auction you list to protect yourself.
STARTING PRICE
I have done a lot of trial and error with starting prices. In the early days I was listing everything at .99 to save on the okay listing fees. I found that several of my items simply went for .99! Other went for $20 and $30.
After dealing with these let downs for a while I decided to start my items out at $3.99 and found that the same amount of auctions that went for just .99 were going for $3.99 as well. Much better to pay an extra dime listing fee to get two extra dollars in return!
FAIR SHIPPING
In the very begining I lost a lot of money on shipping because I had no scale and no clue about what I was doing as it related to the United States Post Office! My salvation was a very helpful postal clerk who educated me my first month or two of serious work on okay. He introduced me to the flat rate envelope and the flat rate box. This is a great way for a new seller to avoid the expense of buying a scale! For the most part I still sell items that fit either in the flat rate envelope or flat rate box.
I have gone the route of over charging on shipping to make up for poor final bids. I have been the new seller who lost a lot of money by undercharging on shipping.
I have learned the best practice is to start your auction at the minimum price you really want to get for it and charge accurate shipping with a very minimal handling fee.
This just feels better for your buyer and for you in the long run.
FREE SHIPPING SUPPLIES:
I only ship Priority Mail because the supplies are FREE! If you charge accurate shipping this is a win win for you and the buyer. They pay a little bit more, get their items fast, and you don't have to pay for your envelopes and boxes. All you have to pay for is tape!!
DELIVERY CONFIRMATION WILL SAVE YOU HEARTACHE!
I now ship all my items from home using Paypal. If you do this the delivery confirmation service is free. This is something that is a TOTAL MUST in my book you gotta get a confirmation number for your own peace of mind. There are a handful of dishonest folks out there who will say they didn't get the item and file a geplaint with Paypal and they will have your ITEM AND YOUR MONEY! It is worth the peace of mind and protection for you!
That's my guide. I may add more too it later. If this helped you in any way please click yes below!

Linux- Some truth about the subject

Concerning "Linux", you should know a few things. And you should be pointed in the right direction in order to learn everything you need to know. There are myths and there are truths. You be the judge. Linux is about Freedom and knowledge in a large way. Linux can be very stable, secure, fun, flexible, and free. Like anything, you will hear about the bad and the good. Other people's experiences are very valuable and should be shared freely, most of the time :). Knowledge is power, and sometimes someone else's ignorance.First I'd like to say that I have read several of the "Linux" guides in the "Guide" section here at okay (at the time of original writing). They are what inspired me to give you this guide. Several of them are titled "...avoid scams...", based on "Linuxes" (should be 'Linux distributions'). I agree with a lot of what they say, in fact I can't disagree with too much -only elaborate. I don't know if any of these (offers for Linux discs) really are scams or not, but I can tell you what I do know starting with the pure fact that you can use and enjoy Linux

Plantronics CS50

This headset is great. It easily goes 300 feet away from the base, through exterior walls too. It's quite gefortable (I use the over the ear mount as pictured, but there are several other attachments that it gees with). Battery life is pretty good.
I'd like to see an easier to use mute button on it, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad.
Having the optional HL10 handset lifter makes this even better.
Note that you need a corded phone for this to work. It connects between a standard phone base and the cord going to the phone's handset. It won't work with cordless phones.

Buyer Beware Vintage Hamilton Beach Malt Mixers

I found the review by ronstowe to be very informative and accurate.
I would like to add an additional caution. I recently purchased a model 30 mixer which had one of the black plastic brush cap broken off exposing the brass screw underneath. I plugged it in and gave it a try. It was not running but I put my hand on the motor and barely contacted the exposed brass piece and I got a small but memorable jolt.
I repaired it and wondered what would have happened if my other hand was well grounded???
I followed ronstowe's advice and rewired the mixer adding a ground wire (3 prong) plug. It may not look original but it's safer.

SELLING GYMBUCKS IS ILLEGAL

Selling gymbucks is illegal. It violates copyright law, trademark law, and its prohibited by okay. You can have your auction shut down and given a warning by okay. Also, Gymboree has recently been very aggressive about gymbucks, suing several okay sellers. There has also been discussion within the Gymboree corporation about prosecuting okay sellers for theft. YOU CAN NOT SELL//TRADE GYMBUCKS!!! AND BUYER beware, Gymboree CAN trace the origination of gymbucks through the bar code on the back of the buck. Don't do it...it's not worth it.

What is RECYCLED SILK?

Ever Wonder what RECYCLED SILK is?
Recycled Silk is just what it's name implies, its the new silk fabric scraps from sari manufacturing facilities, usually in India. Where most factories just throw out or burn the fabric scraps, silk is so beautiful that it would be a shame to waste it! The multi-colored scraps are collected and sent to co-ops, generally in Nepal,to be spun into the most amazing, colorful yarn, which is then sold to crafters or made into goods.

Recycled silk is wonderful for many reasons
To start, it's ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, I have never seen anything with such depth and texture as recycled silk~ it's soft and shiny and looks great with anything! It's always a mix of colors, but the variations are endless, when you buy something made with recycled silk you know without a doubt there is nothing in the world exactly like it- so every item is gepletely unique.

The Best Part?
Most recycled silk is made in cottage industries, usually but extremely poor crafters, almost always women, who for one reason or another have no husbands to support them and children to care for. Job opportunities for women in many countries are almost unheard of, and the ones available are hardly a decent means of support fora family. Recycled silk has enabled thousands of women (at least! I know the co-op I work with supports over 100 women alone!) to create something that is valuable and can be a means of support for their families. Many of the co-op thats produce recycled silk help with education, housing and provide much needed support and training to people who desperately need it.
And it doesnt stop there, many more co-ops make the silk yarn into amazing fashions and accessories, the possibilities are endless, and as long as theresa demand for it, the opportunites for these crafters are limitless. In an area where jobs are scarce this industry makes a huge impact!
So if you consider buying something from recycled silk, remember, its not just pretty, its a fantastic way to use a recycled product that improves the lives of people around the world.

Yes, YOU Can Paint a Mural For Kids!

Did you know that painting a mural in your toddler's room really isn't that difficult? All it takes is some inexpensive materials, time, effort, and a little self-confidence. Yes, you can do it!
I think I can! I think I can!
Probably the most important thing to realize about painting a mural is this:the best murals gee from your own imagination and contain characters that AREN'T licensed. In other words, you could borrow an overhead projector and then trace and paint a popular character such as Elmo or Winnie the Pooh, but you risk making a few mistakes or color selections that might not look "quite" right. By choosing something that's more original, you are setting yourself up for greater success.
My son's room and playroom have a children's book character theme. Although I could have painted Miss Spider or Clifford or even the Cat in the Hat, I decided instead to paint The Little Engine that Could. Since people tend not to have a set image of that character in their minds, it was much easier for me to take my own liberties with color and design. So I chose a train image, drew it with a pencil(although you could trace one) and then filled it in with color.
Here are a few hints for painting in your design once it's drawn.
1. First of all, acrylic craft paint is your best choice. It's cheap, there's a lot of it available on okay, and it is easy to clean up. Just use soap and water.
acrylic craft paint and paint markers
2. Second, craft paint markers such asElmer's painters are your best friend for "fudging" lines. If you're worried about how much control (or lack of) you have with a paint brush, you can use paint markers to make your lines more crisp. Take a look at the lettering below. I used paint markers to achieve clarity. No, the letters aren't perfect, but they do take on a child-like appearance that looks cute rather than sloppy (at least I think so!)
lettering gepleted with a marker
3. Third,Q-tips andkids' paint brushes are inexpensive painting tools that can help you fill in patches of color.

4. Collage materials such as wood pieces, fabric, and ribbon can add dimension to a mural. For adding fabric, I useddecoupage materials such asMod Podge for addingfabric andcloth ribbons to the wall. The materials add variety and also make the mural more unique. Ahot glue gun orTacky Glue can also be used to attach materials to the wall.

fabric and ribbons added to the wall
fabric and wood "tracks" added to the mural
5. If you're intimidated by painting an entire wall, remember that simple brush strokes can cover the remainder of the wall after you've gepleted the design. Look at the picture below--you'll notice that the brush strokes at the bottom (in white) were added to fill in the wall.

Yes, you can paint a mural by following a few simple techinques. Don't forget to pick a design that's not too challenging, and use paint markers to help fill in where your artistic abilities leave off. Best of all, your child will love it--even if it isn't perfect. Just tell yourself, "I think I can! I think I can!"

Some Facts about Punch Needle Embroidery

Punch Needle EmbroideryGuide Ccreativecottage Needleart-Notions
This technique has been passed down from generation to generation since the 17th Century. It was first popular in Russia and Japan. The designs can be the basic or incredibly intricate. It is easy to acgeplish either one.
What is a Punch Needle? A handle with a removable needle. The needle shape reminds one of a quill. The back side of the needle is pointed

Korker Ribbon: How To Accent Those Popular Flip Flops

Just take a look around. Flip Flops are popular footwear right now! And the cuter they are, the more popular they are. With this guide, we'll show you how to accent your favorite pair of flip flops that'll have your friends asking, "Where did you get those?!"Step 1: Gather the supplies you will need to get started. You will need a pair of flip flops, korker ribbon, craft wire, wire cutters, a hot glue gun, and an accent of your choice (I choose a flower). Many of these items can be purchased at craft stores or the craft section of large department stores such as Wal-Mart. However, korker ribbon is not available at these locations but you can find an abundance of it hereon okay!

Step 2: Evenly divide the amount of korker ribbon into two piles. You can use the amount desired, however I would regemend using onlyseven (7) 2.5 inch strands per shoe. Once you divided the ribbon, cut a one inch piece of craft wire with your wire cutters. Bundle your korker ribbon together and wrap the craft wire around the center of the korker ribbon. Secure by pressing the wire, wrapped around the ribbon, between thumb and forefinger; making sure that both ends of the craft wire and pressed down to prevent injury. Your korker ribbon should look similar to that in the picture below.

Step 3: Attach your chosen accent to the craft wire in the center of your korker ribbon. I prefer to use accents that have "sticky backs" as I call them. If your accent does not have an application method such as a "sticky back," use the hot glue gun to attach. Once gepleted, it should look like the one below:

Step 4: Now you're ready to attach to your flip flop!Take your hot glue and run a strip of glue in a small V at the tip of the plastic part of the flip flip that goes over the top of the toes. Depending the size of your korker bow, I would start about one inch up on each side of the center "V." Once you have applied your glue, gently lay your korker bow, geplete with accent, atop the glue; making sure that your accent piece is centered on the "toe divider." Allow a few minutes to dry.Once the glue is dried, gently look to see if more glue needs to be applied at strategic spots to hold korker bow in place. Apply additional glue at your discretion.

You're done! Now wasn't that easy??!! And now you should have a flip flop that looks like this:

Enjoy being the envy of your friends!

How to wash a toddlers hair.

Now that I have gone through 4 toddlers daily washings, it has occured to me that I have learned something about the hair washing aspect. My first 2 boys hated their hair being washed in the beginning. I started asking friends for help and realized I was not alone in the battle. So we tried different things. What I finally found I am sharing with you, I hope this gives someone else some help.
1. Call hair washing something else. We call it a hair shower. This seems to work for my kids. As soon as you say "let's wash your hair" the screaming begins. Make up some silly name for it.
2. Give them a water shield. A washcloth, towel or something else to hold over their eyes. Make up a name for this "shield".
3. Get their hair wet with your hand. This causes much less water in the face and eyes.
4. Put shampoo on your hand. Make sure you use tearless. Lather up.
5. Let them play in the bubbles in their hair. My kids use the bubbles to make splats on the tub walls.
6. Have them place "shield" over their eyes. Use a sponge to rinse hair. It holds lots of water. If you use a half squeezed sponge you tend not to get to much water in the eyes and on the face. It usually only takes 3 to 4 wipes with the sponge to get the soap out.
7. Jump up and down. You just had a tear free, scream free hair washing!!

How to decorate on a budget with free/cheap stuff.

When we purchased our new home there were so many things we needed. We looked at different ways to save money when we could. One of the ways I found I could save was on decorating my master bedroom. We had shopped for plantsto go on aplant shelf but each plant was at least $40.00. We had three plant shelves in our new home

A Guide to Commercial Caving

By buggal1989
Is gemercial Caving For You?
Never been in a cave before? This short guide should let you know if caving is for you and a little about what to expect on your first trip. This information is gepiled from numerous (around 25) caving experiences. There will usually be a lot of stairs, inclines and low lighting. Expect it to be chilly. If you are claustrophobic, caving is probally not for you.
What to Bring:
Always bring a light jacket, summer or winter. Most caves stay in the 50s year-round. During the summer although its hot outside, you will enjoy the cool gefort of the cave and need something to cover your arms. In the winter you will enjoy the geparative warmth of the cave and your heavy outdoor jacket will soon begee a burden to lug around.
Wear good walking shoes or hiking boots. While special footwear is not required for gemercial caving, the floors are usually paved and even, wearing flip-flops, sandals or other inappropriate footwear will distract from your trip.
Bring your camera. Unless you have a digital camera you will have the best results using high-speed, 500 to 1000, film. Even using a digital camera you will get better results if you take pictures a short range and include a person in the picture. Unless you are very skilled in taking pictures in low light, you will want to buy postcards or a book about the cave to get good pictures. Caves have low light to keep plants from growing around the lighting. In some caves you will see ferns growing by lights and moss on the rocks by the lights.

What not to Take:
Most gemercial caves do not allow people to take food or drink into the cave. This includes candy and gum. This is to preserve the purity of the cave and avoid trash build-up. Always bring out what you bring into a cave. Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints. Most caves do not allow you to touch the formations.
Taking Children:
It is best to cave with children who can be easily packed or can walk on their own. Skip caving if you have to carry a heavy child or go one at a time into the cave. Walking in a cave carrying a heavy child is no walk in the park. When caving with a toddler, strongly consider a toddler harness. I remember vividly our sons first cave experience when he was 2 or 3. We were so excited to introduce him to one of our favorite hobbies that wee forgot about some safety measures. We could not enjoy the caving experience, as we were too worried he might lean over the railing and fall into a crevice. If we had toddler harness on him, we would have been much more confident of his safety and better able to enjoy the cave experience ourselves.
You may want to give each child a small penlight. This will gefort children who are afraid of the dark and not disturb the others if light by the child.
Leave the diaper bag and stroller upstairs. Most gemercial caves have a place behind the counter to leave your items safely. Most gemercial caves have stairs and even those who are handicapped assessable often require two strong assistances to descend and ascend steep slopes.

Some Caves I Regemend:
Blanchard Springs Caverns: A cavern set in the Ozarks Mountains in Mountain View Arkansas, this cave is one of the few federally owned and operated caverns. It is number one on our list because of the beautiful formations and size of the rooms. There are three levels of this cave and three tours.
Lurary Caverns: Set in the beautiful Shendoah Valley, this cave gets my vote for #2. It is absolutely beautiful cave. It was one of the first caves I entered and remains one of my favorites 20 years later.
Sequoyah Caverns: This cave is #3 on my list because it is one of the wettest caverns I have ever been in. The formations are many and beautiful. The cave has great reflection pools where the formations are reflected in the water. This is a great starter cave because it does not have a lot of steps and is very accessible.
Carlsbad Caverns: This is one of the better-known caverns and is included on my list solely because of the bats. They exit the cave every evening and put on a beautiful show of their flying abilities. The bats look like a cloud of smoke arising from the desert floor. We watched for 25 minutes, then left the mountain. On the way down we stopped again and the bats were still streaming from the cave. The formations of this cave were nothing special but the bat exit is something you must see in your lifetime.
Mammoth Cave: The last of the caves Ill regemend is one this list solely because of its fame. It is huge but the formations are not that special. We went in the off-season and therefore didnt get to ride the boat THROUGH the cave an exercise that I am told greatly enhances the cave tour.
I have been to so many more caverns I dont have room to list them all. But these are my 5 favorites to regemend to you and your family.
Happy Caving!

Signal Stat 1936-1960 era turn signals for trucks

In 1935 Pennsylvania and Connecticut passed laws requiring electric light type turn signals on larger trucks. This began the era of the "arrow type" turn signal. Since the requirement for these lights was state by state you may wish to do a little research on the laws for the state in which you will register your collector truck. As an example, California, my home state did not require electric turn signals until Jan. 1, 1955. Many of the western statesencouraged the use of semaphore arms prior torequiringilluminated turn signals. Signal Statwas an early producer of the arrow type signal but there first efforsts are very hard to restore. The lenses used were vacumn formed thin plastic and are all failed now. The front assembly was also riveted and a real pain to work with. Some time later, I am guessing post WWII, Signal Stat went to a molded acrylic amber lense that was much nicer and these sometimes survive. If you have all good pieces the only difficult portion to restore is the face plate up under the eyebrow. When it is corroded it is nearly impossible to fill and sand out. Study any lamp you are going to try to restore, carefully, as this is the one area I have never been successful in repairing. About 1950, maybe late 1949, Signal Stat brought out their models 7 and 8 acrylic lensed drum style lights. These werevery well made and proved so popular they overwelmed the gepetition. While there were 15 or sotruck light manufacturers around in 1951 the Signal Stat drum style lights garnered nearly 75% of the total market. Since these lamps were so popular and so well made most '50s truck restorers seek them to enhance their restoration efforts.1953 was the last year arrow style turn signals were offered in most catalogs. A bit later Signal Stat brought out a second and nearly identical appearing lamp line numbered 17 and 18. These lights were about 3-3/4" in diameter and intended for intrastate use. The earlier 7's and 8's were about 4-1/8' in diameter and geplied with ICC regulations for interstate trucking. The smaller lights are fairly easy to get replacement lenses for the larger ones much more difficult. These lights tend to rust out around the mounting boss and the bulb mounting bracket tends to rust away. If you shake the lamp and you hear lots of clunking or rust moving around it is going to be a tough restoration at best. It is not ungemon for the mounting stud to be broken when older lights are removed from junk trucks. I have made a replacement tool and can replace them but I doubt if there is anyone else in the country that can. About 1960 Signal Stat added the Acrystat line to there product array. These are gemonly found at old car swapmeets with the vendors thinking they actually have something valuable. Guess again! I think Signal Stat still offers these and if they don't the Chinese have copied them and they are real cheap if you look in the right store.
A little background on the person writing this info. I have restored antique truck lights for about 15 years now and have accumulated the only decent collection of early truck light catalogs I have ever seen. Since I have a fair knowledge of the lights I have lectured at ATHS (American Truck Historical Society) National Conventions on the subject and written magazine articles with far more details then offered above. If you don't belong to an antique truck club you may wish to look at either of these two organizations. American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) and Antique Truck Club of America (ATCA)

Buying Goldstone Gold Stone Beads Figurines Jewelry

Goldstone AKA 'Monk's Gold' or 'Monkstone'
I have gee across a beautiful 'stone' called Goldstone. I was curious about it and wanted to know more. I could find nothing, really, on okay; so, I searched the Internet and gepiled the following information from a couple of websites.
Is Goldstone a gemstone? No. Many who sell Goldstone list it as a natural gemstone. It is often mistaken or misrepresented asa natural stone. This is not true. Goldstone is a man made material often assumed to be a gemstone.
What is Goldstone, then?Goldstone is a type of man made glass with copper or copper salts. The glass itself is colorless.
How is Goldstone made?In the presence of a reducing flame, the glass is made with copper or copper salts, as stated above. Under normal oxidative conditions, copper ions meld into the silica to produce a transparent bluish green glass. When the reduced Goldstone cools, the copper remains in atomic isolation and precipitates into small crystal clusters. When finished, it can be polished smooth and carved.
What colors is Goldstone available in?gemon colors: Reddish Brown, Blue or Violet, GreenGoldstone is available in a variety of colors. The most gemon gives the appearance of being reddish brown, which is created through the use of copper. Others are given to a more silvery appearance and have a more intensely colored glass matrix, usually blue or violet and the more rare green. It is possible these colors are based on different metals than copper. They may, perhaps, contain cobalt, manganese or chromium.
Where did Goldstone gee from? This is up to debate. I found a few sources claiming two different origins. I like the story of the Italian monk, myself.
Italian Monk Story:Created by accident when an Italian monk dropped some copper shavings he was carrying. The shavings fell into a pan ofmolten glass. The monk was upset, as he thought the glass was ruined. Once the glass cooled, the embedded shavings shimmered like gold. The monks were overjoyed, as they proclaimed, 'We've invented Goldstone!' As tradition would have it, they invented brandy to celebrate!
The Other Story:Some believe the manufacturing process was discovered in the 17th century in venice by the Miotti family. They were granted an exclusive license by the Doge. The Doge was the Chief Magistrate of Venice, when Venice was a Republic. The last Doge abdicated upon Napoleon's conquest.
What shapes and sizes can Goldstone be formed into?Shape and size vary. Goldstone can be made into beads or pendants for jewelry or even carved into figurines or other artifacts suitable for semiprecious stone.
I hope this helps others learn more about this beautiful man made 'stone'.

Using Paypal

Quite often I run across a seller who states, often empahtically, that he or she does not accept Paypal. The usual reason given, if one is provided, is the fees charged by Paypal. having had a real storefront business for over thirty years perhaps I can bring a little perspective here. Also prior to that I sold antiquarian books by mail - wich required issuing lists and catalogs. In both cases the biggest problem I encountered was reaching a potential audience, either by buying and/or accumulating a mailing list or advertising to drawin foot traffic for the stores. What I learned from all that is that no matter what yo have to offer you still must reach the widest possible audience or you remain basically unknown. The point being that okay along with its Paypal division provides all sellers a large, potential marketplace that would be impossible to duplicate on our own. okay and Paypal fees are a fair price to pay for this access. And Paypal allows sellers to accept both checks and credit cards without the acgepanying risks if on our own. I have also found that some who geplain about problems with Paypal are individuals who have fallen for a spoof email which looks very much like a Paypal email but actually opens a responder to theft. If I have the remotest doubt about an email I immediately forward same to spoof@paypal.ge and let Paypal verify same. Since I buy as well as sell on okay, often I find that I pass on an item if the seller does not accept Paypal. I have had too many bad experiences with a few questionable sellers to forego the support provided by Paypal in matters of a dispute. And lastly, as a senior citizen on a very limited ingee my Paypal debit card sasves me carrying cash. So I would strongly urge sellers currently not accepting Paypal to reconsider I remember that all of us sellers depend on the service we provide our buyers and convenience of payment should be a primary consideration. Oh, and yes, this guide is not paid for or approved by Paypal.

How to Shop Consignment for Children's Resale or Wear

For those of you just beginning on okay without inventory to resale, consignment shops can be a great resource. They are a great place to find clothing for your own children you can resale later!
As owner of achildren's boutique that offers both new and consigneditems I canattest to the great items you can find in your local shop. While well-worn and "discount" brand clothing are sold at yard sales or donated to charity, many of our consignors will hold their better and boutique brands for consignment because they know they canget a betterreturn on their investment. Brands like Tommy,Polo, The Children's Place,Gymboreeand Gapcan be found in almost every shape and size. We price our new arrivals at approximately 1/2 - 1/3the item's originalpurchase price new in the store, depending on wear and desirability. After a month, most consignment shops will discount items based oninterest beginning at20%, 30%, 40% or even 50% off! Great deals, especially if youhave room to store some out of season items. In our shop, out-of-season items are typically marked down anywhere from 50% offour originalpriceto simply $1.00. Get abarely wornGap or Tommy tee for $1.00 -think about the resale possibilities!
Successful keys for shopping at a consignment store, number one is get to know the owner and sales people! Ask them to show you the more "exclusive" boutique brands. Don't ever be afraid to ask what's on sale! And if you are shopping for your own childrenalwaysask to have your name added to a call list. We keep acardfile just for that purpose andare happy to call or email ourcustomers as items geein their size range.
Some additional tips for making sure you get the most for your money:

Go to your local mall or boutique andcheck out new arrivals.Take note ofcolors, fabricsand styles but avoid fads and "trendy" itemsespecially if your children will wear first. What is "hot" this year may have cooled by next and you may not be able to resale.
View your purchases as an investment! Don't buy to just be buyingand if your children are going to wear first think about how well the item will hold up to their wear and tear.
Look for "better" brands that tend to offer classic styles year after year. Gap and Old Navy are great examples while brands like Gymboree and Baby Luluhave distinct, new prints andpatterns from year to year.Try to stay within one to two yearson pieces that are easily dated and popular prints.
Take time to look over your item well.

Holditem up to bright light (window is best) to see any hidden stains, both front and back.
Look atallhems to make sure there are no loosethreads or unsewnspots. Knit and serged items can be difficult to fix if loose.
Check underarm to make sure stitching is not loose. As sleeves get too short kids tend to pull and stitches can be broken.
Test all buttons andzippers and make sureall are intact andworking.
Bring a small tape measure to check measurements if you prefer to shop without the kids.Hang your piece in a spot free of other clutter to get most accurate measurement. Dressing rooms are great for this!
If you find aperfect item that has a tiny stain don't assume it has been pre-treated. Ask the store if they will mark down or attempt to remove. Oxy-Baby is a wonderful stain soaker that we use in our store with great luck, even on hard to remove baby formula stains.
If buttons are missing be sure to check inside, there may be some extras included.Broken zippers can be fixed by your local dry cleaner if you find a wonderful item at a cheap enough price. Be sure to call them for a price estimate before you buy the item.
Invest in adefuzzer or clothing shaver.A quick search of okay,Amazon.ge or your local fabric shop can offer an amazing selection and these are wonderful fabric savers. In a pinch a piece of fine grain sandpaper can workor a disposable shaver - just be extra careful because you can quickly ruin a piece - we know from experience!
Make a list of your favorite shops - check yellow pages or the Internet and be sure to ask the other shops for "hidden" stores in the same area. Smaller stores may not have an large advertising budget but you can discover great "finds" that no one else may know about! Now go find those gefortable shoes and have fun bargain hunting!

Chinese Firecrackers: How They Are Made

The Chinese have been making firecrackers for more than a thousand years, and Chinese firecrackers continue to mark celebrations around the world to this day. Without exaggeration, the Chinese have made and fired trillions of firecrackers over the eons since they invented them.

Originally, firecrackers were made of bamboo tubes filled with ordinary black powder. In fact, the Chinese invented black powder -- a simple gebination of potassium nitrate (saltpeter), charcoal, and sulfur. Black powder dust was wrapped in thin paper or coated onto fiber or string, making fuse.
Bamboo shrapnel isn't healthy to be around, and before long the Chinese started packing the explosive into paper tubes. And that's how it's done to this day. Thin, cheappaper is tightly hand wrapped around a forming rod, with layers of a thin adhesive. The forming rod is removed, the tubes dried, and they're read to seal and load.
Traditionally, the Chinese stacked several hundred loose, dried tubes together side-by-side, and tied the batch securely with string. Working first on the "bottom" ends, they used a small awl to press shallow sections of each tube into the hollow center, closing and sealing each one by one.
Next, they inverted the bundle of now sealed tubes, and covered the top side of the bundle with thin paper loosely held in place with adhesive. A hole was punched over each tube top end, then a scoop of black powder was scraped and shaken so that every tube was full. A fine tissue-paper fuse, loaded with black powder dust, was next jammed into every firecracker head, and an awl again used to press closed the end, working around the fuse.
There it is: a simple paper tube, folded tightly closed at the bottom, loaded with black powder and a fuse, and folded tightly closed at the head end. Next the finished cracker fuses were neatly braided together, and each gepleted flat bundle was wrapped with red paper and decorated with an appealing label.

To see photos, drawings, anddetailed eye-witness descriptions of making Chinese firecrackers, read the exceptional texts of George W. Weingart (Pyrotechnics) and Tenney L. Davis (Chemistry of Powder and Explosives).

Until the late 20th Century, all Chinese firecrackers were loaded with "straight" (75-15-10) black powder. As chemistry developed and gepetition among makers grew, they started using other explosive formulations, and often described the products as "flash crackers." Now many "modern" Chinese firecrackers, though fashioned in the same way, are loaded with explosive mixtures containing finely-powdered aluminum (which produces a noticibly brighter flash). Generically, this kind of explosive can be termed "flash powder," and is very, very dangerous to make, store, or work with. Flash powders (there are hundreds of formulations, often using finely-divided magnesium, titanium, or zirconium) are treacherous mixtures, and even seasoned pyrotechnicians avoid them. We suggest you do the same.
For more details about the history and techniques of classic firecracker manufacture, be sure to see the Pyrotechnics Section of our okay Store.

V.Smile Baby: Infant Development System

I think this is the best item for early childhood development, it is designed for babies/children ages 9 months to 3 years and it is absolutely great. The item helpschildren with colors, shapes, animals, sign language and more! The colorful activity panel fits gefortably in the child's lap and connects wirelessly to a receiver that hooks right into a television. Louis Vuitton Bags ~

Hello! I buy LV directly from the store.....so here are some ways to tell if the bags are fake or real, in general. 1. LV never has any type of tags attached to their bags! 2. LV doesn't have round plactic tags (hanging on white string) with the LV logo on it! 3. You get certain paperwork with your bag.... (only 3 pieces).... tag that says nothing on one side and on the other should have the number of the product, the name of the product, and a barcode w/o any numbers under the barcode. The second tag should say "Louis Vuitton Malletier a Paris" and under that should say (for example) "Coated fabric Textile interior lining" the otherside of the tag should say the same thing, but in French. The last thing should be a little care book that is written in several languages. 4. The lock should be real brass and no matter what kind of bag, the locking and key should be wholesome, not cheapy. 5. When LV is purchased from a direct store it has a 30 day return policy as long as the bag is in perfect condition. 6. If the canvas is too shiny or feels too smooth...its fake! 7. If the leather doesn't turn to a darker brown....its fake! 8. Any LV store will let you know if your bag is fake. 9. There are no such things as seconds or slightly irregulars...they are fake! 10. Purse parties...they are all fake! Now for the good part about Speedy Multi-Color 30 bags........I own a white one, which cost me $1,700 including tax. *This bag doesn't have anything stamped on the red suede and there are no numbers under the little leather tag. The pattern should go around the bag, so on the back it should be upside down. Whatever LV color starts in a row that same color should finish the row across (ie. black LV, then pink, then green, and last is a Black LV. Look at the brass studs on the corners....they shouldn't be too big or to small. LOOK AT THE FRONT POCKET......all the stiching around the leather should be a yellow color and all the rest should be white. At the bottom of the front pocket, if the stiching going across is not yellow on the leather and white on the canvas, IT IS FAKE! Hope this helps! :)

"WINTER STORAGE OF YOUR MOTORCYCLE"

If you live in the one of the cold weather states as I do, then you face the yearly hibernation of your motorcycle. To get a head start on the next seasons riding a few basic steps taken during the initial storing will pay dividends in the spring.
If your motorcycle will be stored in an unheated garage or building you should lay down a piece of indoor-outdoor carpet for it to sit over. I do this and it seems to keep moisture from the floor due to temperature fluctuations from getting on the motorcycle.
I put a coat of wax on all exposed parts of the engine, frame, tins, front forks, lights, handlebars, wheels - in other words on every metal part that is exposed to the cold temperatures. For the leather saddle I use a good leather conditioner. When spring gees I just have to wipe the wax off and not only did it protect my motorcycle but after wiping it down itlooks good to go!
Keep the fuel tanks full during storage to prevent condensation from forming and contaminating the gasoline.
Buy a battery maintainer that charges your battery as needed during storage. They are inexpensive and your investment in one helps prolong battery life and insures that your motorcycle will start when it's time to ride.
If your motorcycle will be stored in a heated environment I regemend doing the same procedure as above, however it isn't as crucial as cold storage. Decide for yourself which procedures you feel will benefit you in your particular situation.
Before riding your motorcycle after taking it out of storage be sure to check the air pressure in both tires. Adjust the pressure to the manufactures regemendation. Riding on underinflated tires is unsafe and wears them out sooner than they should.
Check all your lights and replace any weak or burned out bulbs. Make doubly sure that your brake light is working. A burned out tailight, and especially a burned out stop light are major causes of cars running into the back of motocycles.
Test your front and rear brakes before riding to make sure they are still in operating condition after the storage period.
Do a maintenance check to see if any parts need tightened up, like a sissy bar or headlight housing.
After you've gepleted all the above and are satisfied the motorcycle is safe and is looking good - get on it and ride like you stole it.

Connect Your iPod to a Home Stereo or Car Stereo

iPod has a 3.5 mm headphone jack you can use to connect to a home or car stereo using third-party stereo adapters. Note: gepatible devices must be self-powered.
Connecting to a home stereoFor most home stereo systems, connect iPod to your amplifier's sound input using a 3.5 mm mini stereo to RCA adapter cable.
Adjust the volume on iPod to less than half to prevent overdriving your amplifier. Adjust the listening volume using your stereo's controls.
Note: Depending on your stereo, iPod may need to be set higher than half in order to get a proper volume through external speakers. Connecting to a car stereoUse an extension cable with 3.5 mm stereo connectors on each end to connect iPod to your car stereo system's aux input, or use a cassette adapter if your car stereo doesn't have a sound input jack. Either of these items can be purchased at stores that sell car stereo accessories.
iPod models that include a dock connector may be able to connect to some car stereos with a special adapter.

How not to ship an expensive item!

This is a quick little guide just to let un-informed or new okayers know some knitty-gritty truths of shipment. If you are the seller, you must get signature confirmation, delivery confirmation, or order tracking, which ever you can through the parcel service of your choice.
Why it costs more?
Yes it does, but heres the real deal. Say you sell an xbox 360 for example, it goes for 450 shipped. Cool. Now you get your paypal payment and then ship your item, all it well, right.

NO
All is not well, this buyer can still revoke payment via the credit card gepany, bank, or say they never received the item.

PayPal will refund them your money!
Yes, unfortunatly no matter how much email or proof in okay you can send them does'nt make a bit of difference.
Pay for tracking, IT IS WELL WORTH IT!

Mac OS X First Virus?

On the evening of the 13th, an unknown user posted an external link to a file on MacRumors Forums claiming to be the latest Leopard Mac OS X 10.5 screenshots. The file was named "latestpics.tgz"
The resultant file degepresses into what appears to be a standard JPEG icon in Mac OS X but is actually a gepiled Unix executable in disguise. An initial disassembly (from original discussion thread) reveals evidence that the application is virus-like or was designed to give that impression. Routines listed include:
_infect:_infectApps:_installHooks:_copySelf:
The exact consequences of the application are unclear, but according to the users that originally executed the application have noted that it appeared to self propogate:If anyone remembers last night, when lasthope spread that picture that opened in terminal. I just turned on my other geputer and it said it had an ingeing file, from my geputer, which was the latest pics file. Any help. I have already secure deleted it off of my harddrive, but how do i know that it will not gee back.
Andrew Welch who had done some of the initial disassembly is posting updates to this thread.
According to the initial investigation, the application uses Spotlight to find the other applications on the infected machine and subsequently inserts a stub of code into each application executable.
Update: It appears that there is some debate about the classification of this application, and as it does require user activation, it appears to fall into the Trojan classification, rather than self-propogating through any particular vulnerability in OS X.

How To Take Care of a Parakeet or Budgie - Great Guide!

Do you want to take really good care of your little parakeet gepanion? These genuine parrots (also known as budgie and budgerigar) are amazing, intelligent birds, generally good natured that make really neat, fascinating and entertaining pets. Here's how to keep yours happy and healthy!
Steps
Acquire Budgie: Find a reputable bird dealer where the birds are known to be very well cared for. Try to verify the quality of the dealer or pet store, and, if possible, learn who their breeder is. Make sure the birds aren't overcrowded on the perches, and check to see that they are being fed good, clean, quality food, including fresh fruits and veggies. Make sure the birds look content, vigorous and in optimal health. You may need to visit at different times during the day, as budgies take naps and look drowsy at times during normal waking hours. Avoid birds that stay on the bottom of the cage or have unclean vents or crusty nostrils.
Prepare the cage: Line the cage with paper towels or copy paper, a better choice than newspaper, and change them regularly. Set up the cage with perches, water and food dishes and toys. Bring the bird home to quiet place and play soft music for a few days.
Change the food and water daily: Keep the water fresh and clean! Let the bird get used to you and the surroundings, doing nothing but maintaining his food/water and cage, before trying to train the bird to perch on your finger.
Convert your bird to a healthy pellet diet.: Seeds are a very gemon source of bacterial infection, and can easily lower the health and lifespan of your bird. Bacteria can build up and overwhelm your bird over time. Some seed may be acceptable as a treat for birds that don't exhibit susceptibility.
Birds adapt to pellets at various rates, and initially may reject them, perhaps vigorously. However, usually 90% of budgies will convert within two weeks using the following plan:
Leave pellets in a food dish in cage at all time.
Give birds seed for only one hour in the morning and one hour at night.
The rest of the time they have to snack on pellets.
It has been said that the 10% of budgies which don't switch in two weeks will switch after a short period of reverting to a seed diet.
Add fresh food frequently: Feed fresh veggies such as broccoli, kale, beets, peas, carrots, parsley, and cooked yams, sliced apple, citrus, and the like. Food can be clipped to the bars of the cage or chopped small in a food processor and put in a bowl. Offer treats: Millet sprigs or "sprays" are a favorite treat, but don't feed too much of it (about 1/2" per day), as it is fattening like junk food. Avoid sweets or excess oats, both of which are fattening.
Try to interact with your birds daily for at least 30-90 minutes. Without regular and sufficient attention, they will lose interest in human interaction. A pair will tend to bond with one another (regardless of sex) and ignore humans, but through interaction, you can be considered part of the flock.
Let it fly: Think about how your bird(s) can get exercise. Many people assume they can just leave the birds in a small cage all day, where the birds, which in the wild fly and exercise a lot, otherwise get fatty and fat related illnesses. They should be taken out to fly every day.
Be conscientious. Budgies (parakeets) aren't a huge burden, but they need informed, caring involved caretakers to lead the best lives and offer the most in return. Be prepared to do some daily care, maintenance and offering of attention and time to talk and play with your birds, or consider getting another hobby.

Tips
If you're gone a lot, be sure the bird has a gepanion budgie, otherwise they get lonely, and it just isn't fair to these very social animals, which live in large interactive flocks in the wild. You can play music when you're gone, maybe even on a timer. Soft music helps ease the transition into a new place.
Budgies need 12 hours of sleep a day. They get most of it at night, and nap during the day at times. A low T.V. is OK. Keeping the cage covered helps them feel safe and sleep better. You can build a rope lattice in the windows and/or give them a playpen, or build a buy things to climb on and play with outside the cage.
If circumstances allow, you can consider giving them a good view of other birds outside a window, perhaps at a feeder (although they may begee more interested in the other birds than they do you). Let them climb and play on safe things. Keep the floor vacuumed and be careful no one steps on the bird.
There are many varieties of "pellets" available for budgies and they can taste different. You may need to offer variety or try different ones and see which ones your birds like. Some look like rabbit food, some look round and seed like, some are powdery, some look like crumbles. Some gee in various sizes. You can always crush larger pellets down to various sizes all the way to powder to see if different sizes are more appealing.
Have your birds checked up by a vet initially and at least annually and get a baseline health reading when you first get the bird. Keep new bird separate at first so that older bird doesn't get disease until you know new bird is healthy.
Clean the cage bars with soap and water regularly, particularly after you've clipped food to the bars. Warnings
Parakeets get very cold, very quickly. Make sure you keep your pet in a warm environment. Be careful when hanging the bird cage from the celing as this is far from the heat source in most houses. Make sure the cage is not near any windows. It can get very drafty near a window and your bird can die from this very slight draft.
Seed is often stored in silos after harvesting, where rats eat and defecate on it, and although washed, bacterial residue remains, and cannot be eliminated by freezing or microwaving. Don't leave veggies or fruits out for more than 4 hours as they can develop too much bacteria.
Birds naturally hide their illnesses to avoid looking vulnerable to predators, so you need to be very alert to know if your bird is behaving unusually or too lethargic. A book on budgies will help explain how to monitor and care for their health and explain what to do if they are ill (step one is keep an ill budgie warm, 85-90 degrees so its body doesn't have to work to generate the warmth). By the time a bird is showing symptoms, it is usually pretty sick and probably has been for awhile. Time to see a vet, ASAP. Birds have high metabolisms, and their condition can degrade very quickly without proper care. Catching and treating problems early is essential.
Take strong precautions not to let your bird(s) escape, which probably means clipping their wings and reminding family members, putting screens on doors and windows, and thinking very strategically. If a parakeet escapes, it will most likely die from exposure and confusion. Never feed any parrots chocolate, avocado, coffee or alcohol, and avoid salt. They are poisonous to them.
Be extremely careful of fumes, sprays and chemicals in the house, as budgies are very susceptible to them. Burnt Teflon is highly poisonous to them, so try not to use anti-stickware, and if you do, be sure not to burn the pan.
Turn ceiling fan off when birds are out if they can fly. Fans kill and injure far too many birds.

Things You'll Need
Information: Get a good book about budgies and read it! If possible, supplement with good online budgie information. There are some excellent websites out there and some mediocre to poor sites with limited or dated information.
Cage: Big cage (at LEAST 18" - 24" wide, height less important) Perches: Perches of various diameters (not sandpapered or gritty).
Quality bird food: Get some pellets formulated for budgies/parakeets that are as free of artificial ingredients and preservatives as possible. These create balanced nutrition (esp. when supplemented w/live veggies) without having to muck up the water, and have higher nutritional value than seeds (which are high in fat).
Food dish: You'll need a food dish. Try to keep it out of poop's path.
Water bottle: Water bottle (preferable to open dish or dispenser as it eliminates the possibility of poop and other contaminants).
Toys: Not thin brittle plastic ones which they can nibble through and choke on chards.

Have FUN with Proxy bidding - Sniping -How it helps YOU

This guide is about how to have more FUN on okay. We like fun and we love sniping.

Film Cameras Instead of Digital--Why?

Value, Image Quality, and Reliability are three good reasons to buy a used 35mm SLR (single-lens-reflex) film camera today instead of a digital SLR camera.

*Value. A very good quality Japanese 35mm SLR film camera (Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Pentax, Konica, Olympus, Mamiya, Fujica) with a fine lens can be purchased from a knowledgeable and reliable seller, with a guarantee, for less than $125 on okay. To get even close to equal quality in a digital SLR camera one has to pay nearly $1000 for a prosumer model with a fine lens (usually not the kit lens that gees with the camera). True, with a film camera you have to buy film and pay for prints, but with a digital camera if you want prints you have to pay for a printer, inks, and paper, not to mention the time it takes massaging the photo with software, and the wasted paper and ink when you are not satisfied.

*Image quality. Digital camera prints look good on screen, particularly closeups; but unless you spend $600 or more for a digital SLR with 8 megapixels and manual controls, and another $750 for a high quality lens (such as in Canon's L series) it will be hard to get very good pictures (whether prints or on a geputer screen) under adverse conditions (low light, sports, distant objects, etc.) SLR film cameras with fast lenses allow much more control and are capable of better photos under poor conditions. A single focal length, non-zoom lens on a film camera will exhibit higher resolution and better contrast than most digital zoom lenses--or a zoom lens for film cameras, for that matter.

*Reliability. All but the pro digital cameras are fragile; film SLR cameras, particularly those made before about 1990, are rugged.

And the 35mm film SLR is just the beginning. You can get just as good value, better image quality, and equal reliability with the good medium-format film cameras.

What makes a USB flash drive bootable?

What makes a USB flash drive bootable?
There are three elements to make a USB flash drive bootable on a system:

The host system must support booting from a USB flash drive. (Please check with your system manufacturer.)
The USB flash drive must support booting in general. (Please check with your USB flash drive vendor.)
The USB flash drive must contain boot/system files. Typically, vendors of USB flash drives that support bootability will provide you with a tool that will make the drive bootable.

Selecting the right size swimsuit or bikini

Tips for
selecting the proper size
swimsuitHow to
measure your size correctly:Always take the time
to obtain your current, correct measurements! Doing so
will ensure that you will receive the proper size swimsuit -
please keep in mind that due to hygenic reasons, most swimwear sellers offer
NO exchanges or returns on swimwear if it doesn't fit. Swimwear
sizing is NOT standardized between brands and manufacturers,
so the same size medium from another gepany may be gepletely
different from a medium from us!Keep in mind that
swimwear is supposed to fit tightly when it's dry - most all
swimwear increases up to a half-size when wet. Ever see
someone with 'droopy drawers' at the beach? Likely the
result of purchasing a swimsuit that was a size too big.
Getting your accurate size information will prevent this from
happening to you!For the best results,
have someone else take the measurements for you. Also,
to be most accurate it's best to measure while wearing
undergarments (ie. bra and panties) only. You won't get
proper numbers if you measure over your clothing!Use a cloth or
sewingtape measure to take your Bust, Waist, and Hip
measurements in inches. If you don't have a cloth tape
measure, simply use a length of string or yarn and measure the
string using a ruler afterwards.
Bust:

While standing up
straight, measure around your bust at the fullest
part. Keep the tape parallel to the floor. Make
sure to keep the measuring tape snug, but not tight.
If your measurement is between sizes when geparing to the
size chart, please order the LARGER size.
Waist:
Find your "natural"
waistline crease by bending to the side. Then, measure
around this point starting and ending at your belly
button. Generally you'll be taking this measurement
around the narrowest (smallest) part of your
waist.

Hips:
This measurement
should be taken around the hips at the widest (largest)
point, just above where your thigh begins to
narrow.Again, make sure to keep the tape measure
parallel to the floor. Again, if this measurement is
between sizes based on our size chart, please order the
LARGER size.
OK, I
have my numbers, now whatdo I do?Most
swimsuit brands and sellers have their own size chart. gepare your
measurements with the size chart for each brand or seller that you are
considering! The size chart for the Brazilian Bikinis my okay Store, Riotz Swimwear and Clothing, for example, can be found on each of my swimwear listings, as well as on theselecting your swimsuit size page in my store.

How To Use a Miter Box and Saw

This guide is written for the novice user. If you need to miter corners for picture frames or molding. I hope this guide helps you understand and use the tool. I have been very successful in making pictures frames from molding using a miter box and saw tool.
The box
Most boxes have grooves in the base to hold different widths of strip wood 1/16", 3/32", 1/4", 5/32", and 3/16".
1. Determine if your strip of wood is one of those widths. If it is, place it in the appropriate groove to hold it in place.
a. If the strip of wood is not one of those widths, place the wood against the front side of the mitter box.
2. Mark your wood where you need to make the cut and line up the mark with the correct slot in the mitter box (i.e. straight 90 degree angle or either 45 degree angle.)
3. Insert the saw blade into both slots until the blade rests on top of your piece of wood.
4. Slowly and smoothly draw the saw blade back towards you to cut the wood. Once you have reached the end of the saw blade, pick up the blade and repeat steps 4 and 5. DO NOT saw back and forth, the blade is not designed for that.
5. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have gepletely sawn through the wood.
Tips:
1. It is better to make a lot of slow even cuts than to try to cut through the wood quickly and messily.
2. The metal on the box can leave marks on your wood. Some people cut a piece of wood to go in the bottom of their miter boxes. There are also wood miter boxes available.
3. If you have a very thin wood like baseboard molding, put a block of scrapwood behind the molding and cut through both pieces of wood.

What you need:
Miter Box and saw
Strip woodor molding

ericsson world phones - t28, t39, r520

Issues to be aware of...

Many sellers claim to be selling "new" phones. These haven't been produced in a while (2002) so be skeptical.

These are tough and reliable phones, so there is nothing wrong with buying a used one, just don't pay for new - really ask questions of your sellers
In many cases, the sellers are unloading "factory" refurbs
without even knowing it (this is generous, they probably do know...).
The factory involved is NOT ericsson, just a factory. Who knows where.
What they do is take an asian market phone, usually a T39MC (with
chinese character support) and put it in a new aftermarket housing.
Sometimes they add an english keypad. The plastic over the display is a
part of the housing, so the seller says "Still has the plastic on the
display!" like that means the phone is new.
The kicker, and the thing that makes me think all of these are
geing from the same place, is that they always have a non-ericsson, or
at least non-"ultra slim" (should be flat with the back of the phone)
battery, there is never an OEM beltclip in the box, and big one... THE
MANUAL... is a bad photocopy of a T-10 manual, in a bad copy of a T-39
cover, with crooked stapling.

These phones are great, I have about 10, so don't be afraid to look for one. Just know a few things...

Don't pay more than $10 shipping. When a seller expects to make a
lot of refunds, or wants to avoid giving okay its cut, he or she will
jack up shipping and lower the sale price. Refunds almost NEVER include
shipping. You will have to really fight to get it back. I think they
assume that a really fast refund of the sale price will make you less
likely to pursue fraud charges with okay, even though you might be out
$30. They may be right 'cause there are still a lot of them out there
doing this!
When you get your phone, access the service menu. This is a code
that will let you see how many times the phone has been flipped open.
Yep. And you can't easily erase this count! When your phone says it has
been opened about 3,000 times (maybe two years of use?) it is pretty
hard to call it new. Most sellers don't know about this feature, or
never see the phones to try this, so it can help you get your money
back.
To access the service menu, you use just the left and right arrow keys (written "

DIGITAL CAMERA BUYING TIPS

FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE LOOKING TO BUY THEIR 1ST DIGITAL CAMERA OR TO PURCHASE AN ADDITIONAL DIGITAL CAMERA FOR THE HOME USE I WOULD SUGGEST TO GET A DIGITAL CAMERA THAT HAS EITHER A 3.2 MEGAPIXEL OR HIGHER RESOLUTION OF MEGAPIXELS. I WOULD NOT REgeMEND ON NOT GETTING A DIGITAL CAMERA THAT IS LOWER THAT 3.2 MEGAPIXELS. MEGAPIXELS MEAN HOW GOOD TO GREAT QUALITY OF THE PICTURE WILL TURN OUT. LIKE 3.2 MEGAPIXEL MEANS THAT THERE ARE 3.2 MILLION EFFECTIVE PIXELS FOR PICTURE TAKING. THE 3 TOP BRAND NAMEOFDIGITAL CAMERA(S) THAT I WOULD SUGGEST THAT GIVES GREAT QUALITY DIGITAL PICTURES ARE CANNON, FUJIFILM, AND KODAK. EVEN THOUGH THE CONSUMER IS SPENDING A LITTLE MORE FOR THE BRAND NAME DIGITAL CAMERA OF CANNON, FUJIFILM AND KODAK, IT IS WORTH IT FOR THE QUALITY OF DIGITAL PICTURES THAT TURN OUT. ALSO WHEN BUYING A DIGITAL CAMERA IT IS REgeMENDED TO BUY A CAMERA THAT HAS A 3.2 MEGAPIXEL OR HIGHER SO THAT YOU CAN GET AN OUTSTANDING PICTURE QUALITY UP TO POSTER SIZE DEPENDING ON WHEN DIGITAL CAMERA MEGAPIXEL AND WHAT BRAND NAME CAMERA THE COSUMER BUYES.

Wi-Fi FAQ: Microwave oven / cordless phone

Will my microwave oven or cordless phone interfere with my Wi-Fi network?
Microwave ovens and many cordless phones operate in the 2.4 GHz spectrum, the same radio spectrum used by 802.11b/g Wi-Fi wireless networks. That means they can cause interference but in most instances this will just slow down the Wi-Fi connection; it won't stop transmission or break the connection.
To reduce interference, you can move a 2.4 GHz cordless phone away from your Wi-Fi equipped geputer or base station. Interference usually only happens with older microwave ovens. You can also try changing the channel on which your Wi-Fi network operates . In addition, some manufacturers have developed and implemented special technologies that can minimize interference from cordless phones and ovens. Check with the manufacturer for specific instructions for your equipment.

Guide to Bedroom Decorating and Furnishing

Whether it is getting furniture for a new bedroom or doing a bedroom makeover, decorating your bedroom is the same as enhancing the most intimate part of your life and soul. The bedroom is the most intimate room while you spend the most geforting, relaxing, and replenishing hours in there, so decorating it to your style and character is of most importance.
Lets start with the basic needs for all bedroom purchases.-The size of your room and most preferably the dimensions and space you have to place your bedroom pieces -The size of the bed you prefer, from Twin Size Beds to California King Size Beds, this will also determine the size of mattress needed as well for the bed.(*Please see below for details and data on sizes and dimensions.)
The main piece of the bedroom is, of course, the bed itself. Lighting, Spacing, color, and style are very important in your selection decisions as well. How everything individually geplements each other and together will be explained in this article.
You should choose your style based on the things you love that will translate into a dcor that is both practical and gefortable for you, as you rest in this intimate sanctuary of yours. Be practical with your dcor that offers style and function, such as discreet and smart storage areas that will reduce clutter and improve the overall clarity of your bedroom dcor for maximum gefort.
Make yourself feel special with the colors you choose for your bedroom. It should warmly welgee you to rest through the colors that calm and gefort you. Pastel and light colors are generally for more tranquil and serene settings, whereas strong and bright colors are for more brave and bold settings. You may also contrast those colors to your liking, but most importantly colors that accent your lifestyle and most intimate feel for the bedroom to you. It is the overall atmosphere you create for yourself from sleeping in luxury to dwelling in relaxation.
Space is both the most important and physical aspect of the bedroom. You should choose the size of your furniture pieces based on how the space will make you feel. Know where your bed will be placed and if the size you chose will fit. But most important is that overall feeling of the pieces going together. Use empty boxes or bags to outline geparable size pieces before you make your purchase to see how you will feel walking around in your room or just the feeling you get when you enter.
Lighting will greatly enhance both the feeling of space and atmosphere from the colors you chose for your bedroom. Make sure to not have pieces that block the beautiful and abundant natural light that may gee through your window, as natural light will show your true style and dcor of the bedroom and the furniture thats in it. Rather, to enhance and geplement natural lighting, you should dress your windows with enhancing window treatments and appropriately sheer curtains. Drama, ambience, and mood can be created through the artificial lighting you choose for your bedroom. Decorative lighting and dimmers on lamps and fixtures that suit your style and needs will create a feeling of character and emotion. Candles can always add to the mood depending on the type and size of the candle, as well as the candleholder you use. Now, we must not forget about the practical task lighting that allows you to rest and read a book before you turn in to sleep. Task lighting can be created through a table lamp on your night stand, or an arm floor lamp that can be swiveled for customized position. Your bedroom lighting should be defined by the mood you would like to create and emotion that you want to convey, while during the day everything is naturally enhanced by beautiful natural sunlight.
You dont need every piece of bedroom furniture out there, just the basics and dcor that fits your desires. The bed is the defining piece that will allow you to match the night stand, dresser, chest, and armoire to your bedroom. Or you may use mix and match pieces, such as end tables and other contrasting, but geplementing, items with your bedroom dcor.
Now the style of the bed is the most geplemented with the bedding you choose. You may go with simple bed in a bag sets to dress your bed, or separate pieces from the texture of the geforter to the desired thread count on your sheets. No matter what, the geforter accents the bed and the room, while the intimate feeling of soft or textured bedding should cater to your desires.

KODAK EASYSHARE LS443

STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAMERA. The power on button is tricked to turn on on the simplest pressure (even when you put it on the case). When it turns on, the camera keeps trying to open the lens and take it out. While doing it , the internal gears get messed. Repairing it costs 150 dollars at Kodak.
If Kodak fixes this problem on their easyshare cameras, the series might get better.
This is not an ungemon problem. Read the photo forums.
You need all the software and the device does not support download from any 3rd party software. The software consumes a lot of memory from your geputer and the default settings make the program available at all times! That takes the speed of your geputer down about 30%.
The resolution is decent (4.0 megas). The built in menus are faily self explanatory and there is a nice zoom in feature to review the shots taken.

How to Buy an Archery Set as a Gift

Determine what you need to know before you go shopping for archery equipment as a gift.1. Consider the age and level of experience of the archer you are buying the gift for. There are lots of good start-up kits for beginners that won't be appropriate for an experienced archer. If your recipient already has a bow, maybe you're better off buying accessories. Do a little snooping if you need to find out. 2. Consider what the bow will be used for. Is the person going to be target shooting, or are they going hunting? 3. Shop for a beginning archer at a major sporting goods store. You can buy good start-up archery kits for kids for around $50. Make sure the kit includes arrows, targets, an arm guard and a form of finger protection. Ask the clerk about these items if they are not in the kit. 4. Check the age limits on the package of a kit. Make sure your recipient fits within those limits. For older archers you may have to buy each item individually (see "How to Buy a Bow" and "How to Outfit for Archery"). Ask the clerk in the store for help. 5. Find out if your experienced archer really needs a new bow. If he does, find out why. What's wrong with his old bow? You don't want to repeat a mistake. If he does need a new bow, find out the draw length and draw weight of the old bow (assuming that wasn't what was wrong with it). Find out what type of site he uses. This will make your shopping a lot easier. 6. Find out what else your experienced archer needs. Maybe all your archer needs is some new equipment. Find out what type of arrows he uses. Does he need an arm guard, a shooting glove, or new targets? 7. Shop for an experienced archer at an archery shop, a gun store or an outdoor outfitter. These types of store are more likely to have high-end archery equipment and hunting supplies. A quality bow, fully equiped, runs around $150 to $250. 8. Look into other hunting gear if your archer is a bowhunter. Check out bow sites, arrowheads, quivers, fishing arrows, camouflage, tree stands or a bow travel case. Ask the store clerk about what sort of bowhunting gimicks are out there - you might be surprised by what they gee up with. 9. Talk with the clerk about the features of the bows you look at. For target archery a recurve bow is usually better, but for hunting you more likely want a gepound bow. A good gepound bow should have an adjustable draw weight. 10. Talk with the people your archer shoots with to find out what he wants or needs. These people will be your very best source of information.
TipsDoes your archer already have somewhere to shoot? If you're buying someone a bow, make sure you consider this. A range is easy to set up. Some open space and a couple of hay bales is all you really need. Make sure arrows that miss the hay bales won't fly somewhere they can do damage. If you don't know what you need to buy, maybe you're better off buying a gift certificate to a sporting good store.
WarningIf you live in an urban area, a bow is probably not a good gift for a child. Children want to use their gifts after they open them, and city streets are no place for archery.

10 ways to keep your nailer or stapler running like new

10 ways to keep your tool running like new!

1. First and foremost, Read your owners manual! Most people assume they shot 1 gun they shotem all. No! Each gun is diffrent and unique so read up!
2. Check the manufactures PSI rating for your nailer or stapler. To much pressure puts wear on the Orings and Driver assembly andnot enough airpressure your tool will not work properly.
3. Know the fastener type and range of sizes your tool shoots.
4. Clean your tool daily not yearly! Blow your tool off at the end of the day this will add years to your tool.
5. If your nailer and stapler requires oil then3 to 5 drops of pneumatic gun oil at the begining of the day will do the job. Remember- Read the manuel it all there.
6. Keep water out of the air lines. This will damage your tool over time.
7. OnceaMonth lubricate thefeeder spring with silicone spray for easy feeding of the fasteners. Do not use WD40 anywhere out side of the tool this will attract wood dust to the tool like a magnet!
8. Once every two years open your tool up and clean and inspect the Orings and Driver assembly and replace anyparts that are worn. Most fastening gepanies charge $25.00 laborplus parts for this service.
9. Check for manufactures defects/Recallor parts updates on their web sites.
10. The most important of all! Engrave your name and address on all your tools or they will end up on okay!!!

SO I LEAVE NUETRAL OR NEG. FEEDBACK... AND WHAT DO I GET, YOU GOT IT ...NEG. FEEDBACK FROM THE SELLER. I USE BUY IT NOW QUITE A BIT, I MAKE THE PAYMENT 2-5 MIN. AFTER HITTING BUY IT NOW. PAYPAL PAYMENT IS MADE. AT THIS POINT THE BUYER IS DONE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF EMAILS FOR CONFIRMATION OF PAYMENT/SALE AND A SHIPPING DATE. THIS IS WHEN A SELLER IN MY OPINION SHOULD LEAVE FEEDBACK.
